You can now update trip status via automations, allowing you to automatically change a trip's status based on an automation trigger like when trip starts, ends, etc.
To set this up for your trips, I'd recommend including these trip date-based trip status updates in a workflow that auto-applies to trips once you tag them or move them to booked, so you don't have trips moving to traveled or traveling, etc when they may never have been booked in the first place.

Set it up so that trips can automatically move through the timeline and so that users can customize. Ie- add "Travelling Soon" that can be set 2-3 weeks before trip start date to track tripcs coming up soon as well as "traveling" and "traveled" automatically moved to those fields based on trip date.

I'd love to be able to add automation to my workflows that automatically assigns a trip status based on an event/action occurring. For example, when the trip is marked fully paid on all activities, allow me to move to a trip status, "Paid in Full". When the client begins traveling, automatically move the client to "Client Departed" and when the trip ends, move the client to "Client Returned".

I would like there to be an automated status called "Client Traveling" where trips are automatically moved to this status on the first day of their trip date. Currently, I have to manually move trips to my own "Client Traveling" status, which can easily lead to oversights. It would also be helpful if there was another automated status like "Trip Completed" or "Client Returned" where the trip is moved on the first day after the last day of the trip.

This will be a huge efficiency boost. Managing trio statuses automatically is one reason I haven’t implemented automation because it’s too manual.
